General Details

Pantagruel is a drop in PCB replacement for Infernum using electro-capacitive (EC) switches, designed by Calvin.

Like Infernum, Pantagruel is a 35% Katana stagger keyboard running on QMK/Vial. With the use of layers and combos built into QMK and customizable in Vial, small form factor keyboards can fully replace the functionality of a full sized keyboard. Katana stagger is an ergonomic form factor sometimes likened to columnar stagger. The mirrored left hand side is beneficial in reducing typing fatigue, particularly for those who struggle with left side wrist pain. The right side of the keyboard is not much different from the standard row stagger most are accustomed to.

Pantagruel is running on an STM32 microcontroller. Unlike Infernum, Pantagruel does not support RGB, but still supports two independently programmable rotary encoder locations.

Firmware can be customized using Vial (available for local download or web application), or by modifying the source code found on GitHub.

Note: Screws and nuts are supplied with switch plate purchase only. Screws and nuts are required for PCB - switch plate assembly.

Case Options

Case options are available for purchase here.
Case print files are also available on GitHub.

For those interested in designing their own case for the Infernum family of PCBs, relevant files can be found on GitHub..

Plate Information

The plates available in this listing are only compatible with AEBoards Naevies EC switches.

For those unfamiliar with LDPE (low-density polyethylene), it is a very soft plastic, providing a softer typing feel and slightly muted sound profile. The downside to LDPE being that the softer material has a looser hold on the switches. This leads to increased risk of switches being pulled out when swapping keycaps. The switches can easily be reinserted and no damage is done.

For better switch retention, opt for white polypropylene or a metal plate sourced elsewhere.

For those interested in an alternative plate material, plate files can be found on GitHub for both Naevies and Topre plates.

Note: A switch plate is required for mounting to available cases.
